Opaque box with longer ends?

Unread postby goaty » Tue May 16, 2017 6:08 pm

I've been trying to create subtitles with a black opaque box but noticed that the sides (beginning and end) of each line is too 'thin' for my taste. I've tried to solve this problem by using \h\h in the beginning and end. For example:

MC: Which place have you visited then?

would become...

\h\hMC: Which place have you visited then?\h\h

But that is quite tedious to do that especially if you have over 1000 lines. Is there any way to make all the lines have wider ends?
